Product Story

Important Installation instructions:

Grease the stem faceplate mounting screws, insert the handlebar, and tighten the bolts evenly (like car wheel lugnuts) using a torque wrench (we offer a good one specifically for this below if you need one) until reaching the recommended torque of 4 Newton Meters. Check that the gap between the faceplate and stem is even on the top and bottom of the stem. If it is not, loosen the screws completely and start over. While standing stationary over the bike, bounce your body weight on the handlebar to check that it won’t slip. Some carbon bars can be extra slippery: if you encounter slippage, resist the urge to overtighten the faceplate screws, and instead coat the handlebar where it is held by the stem with a liberal amount of friction paste and try again. Our faceplate has a HUGE amount of surface area, so your handlebars should NOT slip at 4nm. If you exceed the recommended torque, you could damage the handlebar, stem, or yourself. If you still encounter slippage or any other problems, resist the urge to tighten the faceplate screws further, and instead contact us via the phone number at the bottom of this page, or visit a qualified bike shop.

Brass bike parts… they’re heavier and cost more… b Brass bike parts… they’re heavier and cost more… but there’s something about ✨THAT PATINA✨. We know, these aren’t for everyone. But some people like a little pop of brass on a bike. You can polish it to shine like jewelry, or let it oxidize, for that vintage steampunk vibe. We’ve just added brass options to our Bar End Plugs and Stem Topcaps, and have already been offering it in Spring Adjusters and Baby Groovy Barrel Adjusters for a while now. Machined right here in Chico California by a bunch of bike nerds, just like everything else we make. ✌️

We didn’t say the #CascadeCougar would be a “re-cr We didn’t say the #CascadeCougar would be a “re-creation” of Mr Paul’s old Salsa, we said it would be INSPIRED by it, and @blackcatbicycles was definitely inspired! This painstaking geometrically masked rainbow fade with chrome lettering was finished with a clearcoat and well, just WAIT until you see this thing dipped in polished parts! ✨🤩✨As for the last pic… we’ll take bad photoshop over A.I. any day of the week. 😂 Thanks for the photos @mybucketsgottaholeinit 📷
Our friends at @wolf_tooth_comp sweetened the pot Our friends at @wolf_tooth_comp sweetened the pot by sending over a pair of sweet Waveform pedals for the #CascadeCougar Oakridge Trails fundraiser project. These puppies come in two sizes, 9 different colors, and are 100% user serviceable. The question is… will we really have this bike built in time for the @made.bike show this weekend?!
